Using Bote-Cote Epoxy for Repairs, Fittings & Modifications

A Bote-Cote Marine Epoxy System Workshop

This workshop is for those who have little or no experience in playing with Epoxies who are planning buying or have a boat and are planning maintenance, modifications and / or Osmosis repairs, but were not sure where to start.  The following subjects are covered:

>  Bote-Cote (2 to 1 ratio) advantages over 5 to 1 ratio epoxy resins and different types of hardener.

>  Plywood and timber selection and problems of using incorrect or inferior materials.

  >  Techniques for mixing and using Bote-Cote Epoxy for sealing timber, filleting and Gluing and laminating.

>  Using a joggle stick for making bulkheads and internal fittings and installing new internal cabin fittings.

>  Difference between Polyester, Vinylester and Epoxies and reasons for using epoxy resins.

>  Causes of spongy decks and techniques for repairing / Reinforcing.

>  Safety precautions when working with Epoxies, power tools and timber.

>  Bedding and sealing techniques for upperdeck fittings in different deck types including GRP over foam, plywood, balsa and Nidaplast.

>  Trouble Shooting when using Epoxies and techniques to prevent problems.

>  Selecting the correct coating for cabins and upperdeck and UV protection.  This includes techniques in using Aquacote, Epoxy Flocoat and Tredgrip.

> Epoxy Glues and Purbond – Techniques and where to use them.

>  Underwater repairs including Osmosis and reasons for sealing with Bote-Cote Epoxy. 

>  Types of fibreglass fabric and advantages / disadvantages of the different types and where to use them.

>  Stripping Antifouling, hull preparation and the advantages / disadvantages of using Cop-R-Bote antifouling.

>  Fibreglass Taping and laminating techniques

>  Questions and Answers then attendee’s ideas / plans.

>  Material preparation and sealing with Bote-Cote.
