This workshop is for skippers and crew who have little or no experience in repairing or diagnosing problems with their boats engine. It revolves around or diagnosing defects and gaining skills to carry out onboard repairs which are within the crews capability.  The following areas are discussed and practical evolutions carried out:

>  Diagnostics - Most common problems and how to avoid them, water in fuel, water in oil, engine will not start.

>  Fuel system - bleeding, removing water, changing filters.

>  Skills to accurately describe problems if external assistance is required.

>  Lubrication system - changing oil and filters.

>  Regular checks and maintenance on your engine.

>  Cooling System - type of system, changing impeller, anodes and inhibiting if Heat exchanger fitted.

>  Spare Parts you need to carry onboard for short and long term trips.

> Exhaust System - type and potential problems.

>  Tools you need to carry onboard and recommended kits.

>  Basic Electrics – Batteries, isolation and starting circuit.

>  Equipment seaworthy condition audit and written report.

>  Repairing common defects and faults.
